The Puzzle Pieces:

Recently I have realised that I have been neglecting parts of myself for a long time and run myself down. My mind likens us to a puzzle, for us, as humans, to be complete, all the pieces of the puzzle need to fit together. We have many different facets that make us human, our social, emotional, physical, mental and spiritual being all come into play to make us whole and who we are. If we neglect a part of us, we cannot be complete. Part of our journey in life is to complete our own individual well-being puzzle. No one else can do this for us.

Over the next few weeks, I will be exploring each different facet, one at a time. Each week I will put up a post about one of our puzzle pieces. These will be individual posts about either our social, emotional, physical, spiritual or mental well-being. It would be lovely to hear everyone’s different perspectives on this. I posted some questions on my personal and public Facebook pages but I would love the perspectives of a wider audience. Especially from cultures other than my own, how other cultures view these facets is something that interests me personally.

 

Why is it important to take care of each facet?

Each individual will put different values on every facet, whether that be social, physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. We all have a balance that suits us personally, but we still need to make sure that the balance is correct for us.

When one facet gets out of balance, the rest seem to follow. Have you ever had a day when you feel like isolating yourself, then you can’t be bothered exercising, before you know it, you’ve eaten a block of chocolate and crying over a picture of your cat that died when you were three? It’s a big ole chain reaction. We want nice strong links that hold us in place.
